Silicor Materials Exploring Additional Sites in Mississippi

January 09, 2013

JACKSON, MS – January, 7, 2013 – Silicor Materials announced today that it is continuing to work with a group of leading strategic investors, including Hudson Clean Energy Partners, and international partners to bring its innovative silicon manufacturing process and high-paying jobs to Mississippi.

“We are committed to building our state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Mississippi, and we look forward to increasing economic opportunity in the state,” said Terry Jester, chief executive officer of Silicor Materials. “After carefully evaluating a variety of factors, we determined that a location other than Lowndes County, Mississippi will allow us to maximize our company’s mission. We deeply appreciate the interest Lowndes County showed in our company and our project.”

Silicor is continuing to work closely with various local and state leaders as well as with the Mississippi Development Authority to find the best site for the facility. In addition, groups from three continents have recently visited Mississippi to explore becoming involved with the project.

“Silicor Materials, its executive chairman, John Correnti, and many others, have been working tirelessly to create jobs here in Mississippi – these projects take time, especially in these challenging economic times,” said Mississippi State Senator Terry Brown. “Mr. Correnti has been a champion of jobs and economic development in Mississippi, having led the successful effort to bring hundreds of high-paying jobs to our state, and we fully support him and his colleagues in doing it again.”
